Pemberton.

I've never found out what became of this beautiful boat which was always tied up at Glasson Dock in the canal basin on the opposite side of the lock to the old and crumbling CasaBaba which remains there as a reminder of its more happier days as somewhere to get something to eat but is now rather an eyesore in its decaying state.

The Pemberton was a craft I always admired and was a wooden hulled boat with some very nice brasses,  the whole thing was immaculate in its appearance and you could often find a couple on board enjoying tea and buscuits on a Sunday afternoon.

Glasson Dock.

A pleasant scene of a few of the many boats on the Lancaster Canal Basin at Glasson Dock on a bright but misty winters day. I tend to observe and count birds on here these days and rarely take any such pictures like this any more......pity I suppose.

Another Autumn.

Another Autumn pic, this one taken in the Silverdale area. We're well past the best and most colourful of this season for another year and have moved into the early wet and windy conditions of November.

Roll by Christmas and roll on Easter!

Shoes & Bags.

Nothing much to say about this image other than its a shop which took my eye photographically in Kirkby Lonsdale.

One Foggy Morn.

No particularly good photographic qualities here but the photograph was taken at 7.30 one August morning when the last thing I expected was fog, it had lifted considerably by the time I took this picture of Cockersands Abbey and the adjacent farm both of which took on this eerie appearance. I had gone early'ish in the morning to see if a bird - which I'd seen the night before in almost total darkness - was still around and which I had thought was a least interesting, but the last laugh was on me because what I considered to be the very same bird was still present in this area the following morning and turned out to be a Meadow Pipit.

Red Deer.

OK if you visit Birds2blog which is my main blog and generally deals with birds/birding matters then you've seen this one before of the stunning stag Red Deer with one of the nine hinds I saw recently from the Griesdale Hide at Leighton Moss RSPB Reserve......it's good in'it!

If you would like to see these beautiful creatures then this is the place to be, though animals like this don't 'turn up' on demand but given time and patience in this hide there is no doubt of at least some guarantee of being enthralled by their presence.

Autumn Gold.

Well they don't come any more seasonal than this. Taken in the Lakes at Claife Heights and if you do happen to visit my Birds2blog and have an interest in birds then this is a well recommended area to have a pleasant walk of around 6 miles with the strong possibility of some good birding including my personal best record of at least 20 Hawfinch one winters day with my old and departed friend and mentor......go for it!
